i'm back from vactioning in rehoboth for a week, and i just finished the harry potter book. CRAZY, crazy stuff going on in the harry potter books. treachery..... lust...... i couldn't put it down. it's weird, actually, to think of all the stuff that i did today. wrote my friend a letter, drove up from the beach house by myself and unloaded the food, took a nap, ate lunch, read some of the harry potter book, napped again, played video games, read more harry potter book, saw "rebound" with p gog (the boy alone isn't so bad, it's just his TERRIBLE taste in movies. seriously, if you were remotely considering seeing rebound, either change your plans or give yourself a good hard slap on my behalf because there is no - absolutely no reason - for you to pay money and see that movie. fortunately, i am broke and p gog was kind enough to front me...), and came back home to finish reading the harry potter book at 2 AM. maybe my day wasn't eventful, but if you'd done all that stuff you'd have trouble believing that you did it all in the same span of consciousness too - although i think that's the effect books have on me. finishing a book for me is always weirdly sad, even if it's a happy ending. which it wasn't, in the case of the latest harry potter. heh heh.

i'm sorry about leaving on such spare notice, but it really didn't occur to me to tell anyone i was going to the beach until i was already on my way down. now that i think back on it, i really have to wonder where all my money has gone, as i only have a few key purchases that altogether amass approximately 35 bucks - a chessboard, the garden state soundtrack and a couple bumper stickers. as for my remaining 60 dollars, i can only shake my fist at all those wasted games of skee-ball.

and now, just in case you're still reading this, some poetry:

All the times that I've felt speechless
From all the words I wanted to say
When the wrong words push each other around in my mouth
Fighting to get out
And all the furniture seems bare
From all the stuff packed away
Into the suitcases, car-ready and
Easily transported.
Likewise, the relationships
Between the people going and the people staying seem to become
compacted,
Folded and extremely visible.
All these times repeat themselves in different settings
Stealing the color from the color
And making every texture I lay my hand on register to my brain
As "Leaving" and "Alone like at the start."

(note the lack of punctuation on line 11, thereby making it artsy)

i'm gonna go return the movie to blockbuster and see if it's any different from doing in after they open in a few hours. then maybe i'll get to sleep.
